Bio

Nyxantho was born in the northern reaches of the Dravanian Hinterlands. His mother was a war refugee from Ala Mhigo, and his father died fighting against the Garlean empire. While pregnant with Nyxantho, she managed to find sanctuary in the newly constructed colony of Sharlayan. Unfortunately, she died during childbirth, leaving him without any family. He was taken in by the scholars, only because Nyxantho had clear blue eyes that seemed to almost glow in dim light and they wanted to study him further.He was raised with strict militaristic rules and lifestyle with the scholars, even at a very early age. After some ethically questionable tests and experiments, it became clear that Nyxantho had the ability to imitate magic after having witnessing it only once. He could mimic all types of magic from simple healing to body enhancement magic, although it came at a cost. The involuntary act of copying drained much of his aether, and stronger spells caused searing pain to course through his body, especially in his eyes. At one point he nearly went blind after watching a thaumaturge cast a spell his small body could barely handle. After some time, he was forced to join the mass exodus to Old Sharlayan as the scholars abandoned their colony, fleeing the possibility of a Garlean invasion.Once in Old Sharlayan, more tests and experiments were forcefully performed while keeping him under close watch. It is here that it had become known that Nyxantho could faintly see aether without the use of special tools and it was this special sight that allowed him to copy spells. After this revelation, special glasses were made to block this sight so he doesn't copy any spell his body isn't prepared for. Surprisingly, as the years passed, the tests and experiments began to decrease as the Sharlayan scholars seemed to shift their attention to other projects deemed more important by The Forum. Nyxantho was able to use this to his advantage, growing sick of only being treated as a test subject and nothing more.

The decreased experiments also led to a decrease in the tight monitoring overall. Taking weeks of watching and memorizing his patroller's movements and routes, Nyxantho took a chance to escape his prison. Using everything he learned, and even utilizing some spells he was forced to copy, he managed to stow on a boat leaving for Limsa Lominsa. Once he arrived, however, he had nowhere to turn to for help. Instead, he turned to the only path he knew: enlisting to serve Limsa as a yellowjacket, and then as a soldier once the fight with the Garlean Empire was reaching its boiling point, once again living a strict militaristic lifestyle.After fighting many battles, and even doing some less than reputable jobs, Nyxantho earned enough to break away from his military life. He found a new job as a sailor on trader and merchant ships; this is where he discovered his love for the sea. Now he embraces what freedom he currently has and dives head first into new exciting adventures. There is nothing in this world that can hold him back from experiencing his new, free life.
